We’re right smack bang in the middle of summer, and some of us have had a scorcher. If your steel garage is warming up too much this summer, possibly look at the following ways to make your shed cooler this summer.

One of the best ways to best control the temperature in your shed is to install quality insulation into your roof. Good quality insulation that has been certified by the Building Code of Australia, should effectively keep your steel garage cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

Get tinted windows or use blinds
If you have windows in your garage, make sure they are either tinted or use blinds so that the sun doesn’t stream in, bringing with it all of its heat.

There are a couple of ways that you can ventilate your steel garage, you can use roof ventilation such as a Whirly Bird to draw the heat out, or you can simply open a window in cooler parts of the day to let the cooler airflow through. Don’t forget to open the garage door at night to let the fresh air in.

Install an HVAC System
If you use your garage regularly, then you may consider adding an air-conditioner to really cool down your steel garage, though this is a much more costly operation.
